Minding Your Business Matters

Getting Your Business Up and Running

3 min read

What does it take to get your dream business up and running and what are the main elements to make sure that it withstands internal and external factors against your business? Well, for us, before the business is up for the test, we will make sure the following critical factors are in place:

Business
Successful long-term businesses almost always started with a set of non-financial objectives and derived financial objectives consistent with pursuit of their broader goals.

Setting only financial objectives without setting a proper business structure is risky for a business and most entrepreneurs will not notice this. This single minded pursuit of financial objectives can lead to actions that undermine long term viability.

A business structure involves setting of goals and objectives and then executing a series of actions to meet it.

Doing it right in the first time is critical for any business for the long term.

Accounting
Every successful and growing businesses will need to carry out activities such as book keeping and financial accounting.

Accounting involves the classification and recording of monetary transactions which can be eventually interpreted and assessed of it’s performance over
a period of time. The transaction will include the:

  • profit / loss of the company
  • balance sheet of the company
  • cash flow position of the company

On a formal focus, accounting will involve:

  • Corporate Issues
  • Taxation
  • Financial reports
  • Management Reports

Compliance with accounting standards is necessary for financial statements to give a true and fair view by individuals, businesses or authorities.

Marketing
Marketing continues to evolve and expand its scope exponentially. The emphasis is shifting from transaction-oriented marketing to relationship marketing and therefore retaining customer royalty through continually satisfying their needs.

Marketing is also a process of planning and executing functions that satisfy customer and organisational objectives.

Did you know when to:

  • Cultivate large markets or niche markets?
  • launch new brands or extend existing brand names?
  • push or pull products through distribution?
  • protect the domestic market or penetrate aggressively into local or foreign markets?
  • add more benefits to the offer or reduce the price?
  • expand or contract budgets for sales force, advertising and other marketing tools?

Design

Graphic design is visual communication. Anything that needs to be communicated that cannot be done verbally must be put into some form of design that gets a message across. Stop reading this blog post for a second and look around you. The pack of gum on your desk, the magazine cover, the cute saying on your coffee mug, and even the typeface in a TV ad are all examples of graphic design. Graphic design is a huge part of your everyday life and you probably barely notice it, but imagine life without it and it would be a strange world indeed.

Everything would be in a plain white wrapper. No pictures, no text.

A simple trip to the grocery store would be a game of roulette! You wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between a box of Corn Flakes and a box of Cocoa Puffs! How would you find your favorite restaurant? How would you know what’s on the menu?

Clearly, we need graphic design and we need it to convey its message clearly and effectively.
